Fresno City College hosts a Veterans Day ceremony Friday featuring a flyover by the 144th Fighter Wing from the Fresno California Air National Guard.
The ceremony will begin at noon in front of the Veterans Peace Memorial, the school announced. All veterans are encouraged to attend to be honored.
Special honors this year will go to Fresno City College’s 1,200 student veterans and Lee Farley, the college’s dean of student services who will receive the Citizen Soldier Award. Farley is a Vietnam War veteran who served in the Air Force from 1965-69 and has worked at Fresno City College since 1981. Event organizers say he has dedicated his career to working with veterans.
The annual event is held the Friday prior to Veterans Day while classes are still in session. The public is invited, too.
