‘Doc’ Buchanan remembrance set Thursday in Clovis

A celebration honoring the life and legacy of Clovis Unified founding Superintendent Floyd “Doc” Buchanan kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Buchanan High School. Buchanan died on Aug. 11 at the age of 91.

Memorabilia, photos and a short video will be displayed at the celebration, with visitors encouraged to bring their own photos of Buchanan to post on a special sharing wall. Stories will also be compiled by the district for a developing collection in Buchanan’s memory.

Musical groups from all five of Clovis Unified’s high schools will perform.

At 6 p.m., a short program will be held with guest speakers including Superintendent Janet Young, Governing President Ginny Hovsepian and Buchanan’s daughter, Randy Hein.

Buchanan High School is at 1560 N. Minnewawa Ave. in Clovis.
