A Strathmore woman was killed early Monday when she lost control of her car on westbound Highway 198 east of Road 156 east of Visalia, the California Highway Patrol reported.
She was identified as Samantha Ammons, 29, the Tulare County Coroner’s Office said. (An earlier version of this story identified the driver as a man.)
The crash occurred about 5:38 a.m. as she was proceeding at a speed of about 65 mph when she veered right to avoid a large object in the roadway and rolled the 2005 Nissan Sentra several times.
The driver died at the scene.
