A pedestrian was killed Monday nightafter being struck by a motorcycle in Fresno.

Officers responded around 9:30 p.m.to a reported motorcycle-versus-pedestrian collision near the intersection of Maple and Garland Avenues.

When they arrived, they found the motorcycle rider and a pedestrian in the roadway.

Fresno Police Lt. Zeb Price said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Price added the woman lost a foot as a result of the crash.

The motorcyclist suffered injuries and received first aid at the scene before being taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

Price said it appears the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Maple at the time of the collision.

The department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating.
