Cal Fire reported a 49-acre wildland fire broke out in the foothills of western Fresno County on Saturday afternoon.

Crews are on scene near Panoche and Little Panoche roads, where 60 percent of the blaze is contained, said Fresno County Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Michaels.

According to a Cal Fire social media post, crews were on scene around 3 p.m. when the fire covered around 20-acres.

High winds and difficult access became an obstacle for firefighters to contain the fire, which is located about 80 miles west of Fresno.

Crews will remain on scene for several more hours, Michaels said.
