The Fresno Historical Society has arrived at its 100th year of tracking and documenting the people and events that shaped the central San Joaquin Valley.

To celebrate, the organization is throwing a “Great Gatsby”-themed centennial gala on Saturday at the Kearney Mansion west of Fresno, 7160 W. Kearney Blvd.

Those interested in attending the 1919-style celebration are encouraged to arrive in vintage attire mirroring the traditions of the fictional millionaire and mansion owner Jay Gatsby from the classic book by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Those who arrive with non-festive clothing can visit the mansion’s costume shop, where there will be appropriate items to choose from to get in style – and compete in a best-dressed contest.

Food, drinks and entertainment will be provided during the event. Guest will be greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne to start the night. The event is scheduled for 7:30 until 11:45 p.m., according to event information online. Tickets start at $65.

For more information, contact the historical society by phone, 559-441-0862, or by email, info@fresnohistory.org.
