A Fresno woman was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash along Highway 180.
California Highway Patrol Sgt. Ed Jacobs said 38-year-old Nicole Lovejoy was killed after she drove her 2004 Nissan Armada into the concrete center median of the highway as she traveled west. The car kept moving forward before flipping over and partially ejecting Lovejoy, who was not wearing a seat belt. She died on scene.
The CHP is investigating why Lovejoy swerved left from the No. 3 lane and into the center median. The crash was reported just after noon on Highway 180 just west of Blackstone Avenue, the CHP said.
A female passenger, identified as Taneea Robinson, 42, of Fresno, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. Jacobs said she was also not wearing a seat belt.
A 15-year-old boy, whose name was not released, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, according to Jacobs.
The CHP is investigating whether drugs or alcohol had a factor in the crash.
