Two people are dead after their car ran a stop sign and was hit by a pickup truck at a rural intersection west of Fowler early Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash at Chestnut and South avenues was reported just after 6 a.m. The CHP said a Chevrolet Lumina driven by a 55-year-old Fresno man was eastbound on South Avenue and ran the stop sign. It collided with a northbound Ford pickup and two people in the Lumina, a man and a woman, were killed. Both were from Fresno and their identities were withheld until families could be notified.
The pickup, driven by a 20-year-old Exeter man, ended up on its side in a vineyard, and the car landed in a dry canal.
