Four adults were able to escape a burning home unhurt Tuesday morning as Visalia firefighters battled the blaze in the 1100 block of South Valley Street.
Battalion Chief Doyle Sewell said that firefighters arrived at the home around 5 a.m. and quickly extinguished the flames. The fire damage was held to a minimum but smoke damage hit much of the house.
Sewell estimated the damage to the home and property at $50,000. He said the fire was accidental, probably the result of discarded smoking materials.
