Accident results in fatal injuries to 65 year-old North Fork resident

A Mountain Area resident, Arthur Hernandez, 65, of North Fork, sustained fatal injuries Thursday afternoon when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a vehicle at the corner of Road 224 and Wilcox Drive near North Fork.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Hernandez was south bound of Road 224, at an unknown speed, and the Ford Edge, driven by Daniel Tilden, 65, also of North Fork, was north bound on 224 and attempted to turn left onto Wilcox Drive.

As the vehicle was turning left, Hernandez struck the right rear of the vehicle.

Tilden and his one passenger, were not injured.

Responding to the accident were units from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire and Sierra Ambulance.

The accident is under investigation.
