PG&E will be venting air from northwest Fresno gas lines after a gas line ruptured Friday, sparking a massive blaze, to maintain reliable gas service to customers in the area.
The process, which officials said would be completed Friday night, will restore gas to homes in the area of Herndon Avenue off Highway 99. PG&E said the procedure poses no safety issues but warned some customers might smell gas or hear hissing noises as the air is being released.
The cause of the explosion is unknown and the Fresno Fire Department and PG&E are investigating.
Anyone who has safety concerns is asked to call PG&E at (800) 743-5000.
