Fire destroys Visalia home, displaces family

A Visalia family lost its home Monday when a fire all but destroyed it and a mother-in-law unit.

The fire in the 800 block of North Conyer Street broke out about 1:50 p.m. Monday and took an hour to put out, Visalia Fire Department battalion chief Doyle Sewell said.

At least four children 15 and under lived there, he said. No one was injured and the Red Cross arranged for the family to stay at a motel for two nights, Sewell said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but it appears to be accidental, Sewell said.
