One man died Tuesday evening after the SUV he was driving crashed on Walnut Avenue just north of South Avenue south of Easton, the California Highway Patrol said.
The SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled several times, said CHP Officer Matt Zulim. The driver, whose age was estimated to be between 45 and 50, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The crash was first reported just after 6 p.m.
The CHP was still investigating. It was not immediately known whether the driver was wearing a seat belt, or whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
