Update: The California Highway Patrol reports that Highway 168 reopened at 8:22 p.m., but PG&E will continue to do traffic control for four or five more hours while workers repair the damage.
Highway 168 at Gooseberry Lane in Prather is closed due to live electrical wires in the roadway, the Central Valley Transportation Management Center reported at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Road officials said a vehicle struck a power pole, causing the pole and wires to fall onto the roadway. Pacific Gas and Electric Company is estimating Highway 168 will remain closed at Gooseberry Lane for six to seven hours as crews work to safely remove the pole and wires.
Roadway conditions can be checked online or by calling Caltrans automated road conditions line at (800) 427-ROAD (7623).
