Caltrans will make repairs to concrete roadway slabs on Highway 99 near Selma on Thursday and Friday, creating some daytime lane closures for motorists on the busy freeway.
On Thursday, crews are scheduled to make repairs in the left-hand fast lane on northbound Highway 99 from Second Street in Selma to just south of Manning Avenue. The work is planned for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center median as well as the fast lane of the freeway will be closed for the work.
Workers will move to the southbound lanes of Highway 99 on Friday, with the right-hand slow lane of the freeway closed between McCall Avenue and Mountain View Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The right-hand shoulder of the freeway will also be closed during the work period.
Portable message signs will be up on the freeway both days to warn drivers of the work ahead so they can merge into the open lanes, but drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route if possible to avoid the construction areas.
