A Visalia man died Sunday night after his motorcycle crashed while driving west on Excelsior Avenue southwest of Laton.
California Highway Patrol said Jimmy Dean Slayton, 54, was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson at an unknown speed around 10:15 p.m. when the motorcycle slid across the oncoming traffic lane, through a curve in the roadway and hit the raised asphalt curb edge.
Slayton was thrown from the motorcycle. He died at the scene, west of 16th Avenue.
CHP said Slayton was wearing a helmet. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
The collision remains under investigation.
