A fire destroyed a mobile home near Selma on Tuesday morning and displaced two people.
The man and woman, who were not named, were being assisted by American Red Cross after their mobile home burned just before 11 a.m. on Rose Avenue near Bethel Avenue, just east of Selma, said Fresno County Cal Fire spokesman Capt. Ryan Michaels. One of the residents was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation but refused transportation to the hospital, Michaels said.
Michaels said the electrical fire started in the attic and their working smoke detector likely saved their lives. They were able to safely evacuate as flames and black smoke quickly spread. Firefighters got the blaze under control within 20 minutes.
