Three people were hospitalized with major injuries Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Brawley Avenue, north of Olive Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash west of Highway 99 occurred just after 10 a.m. as the driver of an SUV, southbound on Brawley Avenue, lost control, spun and slammed into a concrete wall.
It took firefighters about 20 minutes to free the driver from the wreckage.
CHP spokesman Axel Reyes said investigators were working to determine whether the SUV lost a front wheel before the crash.
Maria Padilla, who works at a nearby fruit stand, said it appeared the front of the SUV dropped toward the pavement before the impact with the wall.
