An Oakhurst man was hurt Monday night when a small propane tank exploded, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The incident occurred about 11 p.m. at Purple Cow Mall in the 39900 block of Highway 41. The explosion seriously injured one of the man’s hands. He told deputies he was using a five-gallon tank of propane as fuel to melt some metal.
The victm was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. Lt. Patrick Majeski said there was no foul play involved and the incident was treated as an accidental injury.
