Two Ivanhoe women killed in go-kart crash identified

Correction: Based on incorrect information from the Tulare County Coroner, an earlier version of this story misspelled Jerica Wysong's first name as Erica.

The names of two women who died when the go-kart they were in ran a stop sign and was hit by a pickup truck east of Ivanhoe have been made public.

Roxanna Alcantar, 28, and Jerica Wysong, 22, both of Ivanhoe, died in the collision east of town, the Tulare County Coroner's Office said.

About 6:15 p.m. Friday, the two were in a Dingo go-kart going north on Road 188 in an area of citrus groves when they ran the stop sign at Avenue 336, the California Highway Patrol said.

A 2007 Chevy Colorado pickup truck heading west on Avenue 336 hit the right side of the go-kart.

The two women were thrown from it and suffered fatal injuries, the CHP said.

The go-kart came to rest on its wheels in an orchard, and the pickup truck came to rest on its wheels against an orange tree.

The 34-year-old driver of the pickup truck and his passenger, 66, both of Ivanhoe, received minor injuries but said they would seek their own aid.
