Stevie gets a new leash on life

Three months, 13 bone pins and several surgeries later, Steve Austin, also known as “The Six-Million Dollar Mutt,” shows off his newly reconstructed jaw during a party held in his honor Wednesday at the Central California Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The small white terrier was discovered by the society’s animal control officers in an abandoned Fresno home, nearly starved to death and with a severely shattered jaw.

Through donations and with the surgical skills provided by Dr. Marco Cervi of Veterinary Specialty Services, “Stevie” is now nearly good as new.
