In case you missed it, Pismo Beach Pier is undergoing rehabilitation to help shore up the popular structure and has been closed while the construction continues.

Work is moving along, Pismo Beach spokeswoman Bianka Buchanan said Friday, noting the $8.7 million project is on track to be completed by May 2019.

She did note that anyone interested in watching the construction activities can do so from the beach, but people are advised to stay approximately 100 feet from the work zone.

According to Buchanan, the first diamond of the pier has been reinforced, and the city’s contractor is working toward the second diamond. Workers have recently been taking down the old supports for the pier and replacing them with new ones.

For questions about the construction or owning a piece of the pier, call Cindy Ransdell at 805-773-7053 or visit pismobeach.org/746/Pismo-Pier-Rehabilitation.

A large portion of the Pismo Beach Pier's renovation project is focusing on replacing parts of the structure that haven’t been updated since the pier was built close to 90 years ago. The pier is closed during construction, with some parts opening
