A spray rig towed by a tractor that was involved in a double fatal collision west of Kingsburg early Friday did not have a rear light or triangle reflector, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The CHP is investigating whether that was a primary cause of the crash in which two Hanford women died, according to spokesman Victor Taylor. The collision took place on East Elkhorn Avenue near South Dewolf Avenue about 5 a.m. The two women, 21 and 22 years old, were in a Chevrolet Cruze that struck the rear of the sprayer in predawn hours. The Chevrolet was pinned under the sprayer after the crash.
The identities of the victims was withheld pending notification of family.
