Two passengers, a 22-year-old man and a 3-year-old girl, were killed Thursday night near Dinuba when the driver of the Nissan they were riding in pulled out from a stop sign and into the path of a truck, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash took place about 8 p.m. Monica Escamilla, 23, of Cutler was at Road 64 and Highway 201 in the Nissan when she accelerated from the stop sign and collided with a GMC driven by Cipriano Munoz, 49 of Reedley.
The CHP said Munoz slammed on his brakes, but the front of the truck broadsided the sedan, driving the Nissan into a power pole.
The passengers died at the scene. Their identities were withheld.
The CHP said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
