The marching band from Clovis West High School made the semifinals of the Bands of America Grand National Championships.
One hundred bands from high schools throughout the United States were at the event, which was hosted last weekend at Lucas Oil Field, home of the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League.
The top 30 were chosen for the semifinals, and Clovis West was the only band that was a newcomer in the round, said Mark Standriff, the father of one of the band members.
The top 12 were then picked for the final round, he said.
The Golden Eagles were directed by John Lack, with assistance from Bryan Chesi.
About 200 people traveled in the Clovis West contingent, including students, staff and chaperones. The group was booked on three different flights from Los Angeles International Airport.
