A bicyclist was critically hurt Monday morning after he rode in front of a pickup truck and was run over, police said.
Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez said the bicyclist, a 57-year-old man, was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. He immediately went into surgery and may not survive.
Police contacted the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup, a 27-year-old man who remained at the scene of the accident. Investigators believe both the truck and the bicycle were traveling east on Church Avenue near 10th Street when the bicyclist pulled in front of the truck. The driver attempted to stop but could not.
The bicyclist was at fault for the accident, Gomez said. The pickup driver was driving on a suspended license and may be cited for that offense.
