National Gay Blood Drive held in Fresno

Donors gave blood on behalf of the National Gay Blood Drive at the Central California Blood Center in Fresno Friday.

The National Gay Blood Drive is open to everyone and is held in response to the ban on gay and bisexual men from donating blood by the FDA since 1983.

This year's drive is being held in more than 60 U.S. cities including Fresno.

Organizers say gay and bisexual men showed their willingness to contribute by bringing allies to donate in their place.
