Back-to-school health fair planned in Hanford

Adventist Health / Central Valley Network will hold a free Back-to-School Health Fair on July 28 to help families prepare for the upcoming school year.

The fair, which includes drawings for free school supplies and bicycles, will be from 1to 4 p.m. inside the Central Valley General Hospital Chapel Auditorium, 1025 N. Douty St. in Hanford.

Asthma, dental and nutritional education will be provided through interactive activities, props and educational materials. Refreshments and healthy snacks will be available and a disc jockey will be there to get kids moving. Free blood pressure checks also will be offered.

At the event, families can apply for the California Healthy Families Program, which offers affordable health care. Parents must bring birth certificates, Social Security cards and proof of income to qualify.

To receive immunizations, participants should bring their immunization cards.
