Habitat for Humanity dedicated its 133rd home under rainy skies on Saturday to the Thao family.
The Thao’s received a 1,600-square-foot, five-bedroom, two-bathroom house in the Hope Village subdivision at Church and Laval Avenues in southeast Fresno. The house, which has solar, was sponsored by the California and Fresno Association of Realtors.
Bee Thao, his wife and seven children previously lived in a two-bedroom apartment for 10 years.
“I want our children to have a better future, a safer place to live and more possibilities open to them as they grow,” Thao said.

Hope Village is nine-home development made possible with an $845,000 award from the city of Fresno HOME funds and $135,000 from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco.
Habitat has helped 158 families in Fresno County over the last 30 years.
