G.J. Gardner Homes is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the first house the Australian company built in the United States – in Kingsburg.

The custom homebuilder built a three-bedroom, 3,800-square-foot home on 21st Avenue in 2006, about a year after opening its first American office in Selma. G.J. Gardner was an independent building firm started by Greg Gardner in Queensland, Australia in 1983.

Since then, the company has grown to more than 100 franchises around the world, according to its website. There are five offices in the Central Valley including Bakersfield, Clovis and northeast Fresno, Kings County and Tulare County. Each is locally owned and operated.

“It has been an incredible 10 years during which G.J. Gardner has developed and evolved into the premier home builder we are today,” Destiny Klomp, vice president of operations for G.J. Gardner Fresno/Kingsburg said in a news release. “A lot has changed over the past 10 years, but the one thing that has remained the same is the support from our community. We are proud to be a part of this growing community and look forward to the next 10 years!”

The public is invited to an open house at the builder’s Selma office, 2020 2nd St., from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Drinks and appetizers will be provided and prizes will be raffled off through the evening.
