Brent McCaffrey, president of McCaffrey Homes, was named chairman of the Building Industry Association of Fresno and Madera Counties.

McCaffrey will serve a two-year term with the local trade organization which is affiliated with the California Building Industry Association and the National Association of Home Builders. BIA members include homebuilders, developers, trade contractors and building material suppliers.

“It’s an honor to serve the building industry and homeowners in my hometown,” McCaffrey said in a news release. “Housing is at the center of the American dream. The BIA and its members play a vital role in helping our area’s residents realize that dream.’’

The association works with government, trade, civic and veteran organizations to promote housing affordability and economic development.

McCaffrey is the third member of his family to serve with the group. His father, Robert, was chairman in 2004 and 2005 and grandfather, John Bonadelle, was involved with the organization.

“As president of McCaffrey Homes, Brent knows the challenges facing the building industry,” said Mike Prandini, the association’s chief executive officer. “He will work to achieve the common goals of the BIA. Through Brent’s diligent efforts, we know that he will be an effective advocate for the industry and our members.”

McCaffrey also serves on the Community Development Council of the Urban Land Institute. He co-founded, in May 2014, the McCaffrey-Knowlton Scholarship in City Planning at Fresno State.
