Fresno topped a list for having the healthiest housing market in America at the start of the new year.
Now, two Fresno County cities are among the “10 Best Places for Young Families in Northern California.” The study, released in December, was conducted by Nerdwallet, a San Francisco-based consumer advocacy website that examined public school ratings, median home values, monthly homeownership costs and median household income and income growth of 202 places in Northern California.
Kingsburg is No. 5 on the list. The southeastern Fresno County city had the lowest median home value of the top 10 cities at $219,700, the study said. And the city’s median income grew 57 percent between 1999 and 2014, the highest jump of any city on the list.
Elementary schools operate on a charter system and the city pays homage to its heritage with its Swedish Village and annual events.

Clovis made it back on the list at No. 9. The city was No. 1 in 2014. The study points to educational opportunities as one of the city’s bright spots with the Clovis Unified School District serving students and the Clovis Chamber of Commerce which hosts a Young Entrepreneurs Academy for middle and high school students.
El Dorado Hills, east of Sacramento, was No. 1 followed by Folsom and San Ramon.
