A group of women have restarted a local chapter of the national Women’s Council of Realtors.
The Greater Fresno Women’s Council of Realtors, officially chartered on Oct. 25, has about 46 members so far, including men. Members must be a Realtor. The organization covers an area from Merced to the southern end of Fresno County, said president Joanna Odabashian with Keller Williams Fresno.
“We really believe in (the council’s) mission, which is to be a network of successful Realtors advancing women as professionals and women in business,” she said. “I feel like it’s a training ground to train more leaders.”
Odabashian said she believes this is the first Fresno chapter since the 1990s.
Other officers include: Carole McMills, president-elect; Tracy DeJong, secretary; Vanessia Carpenter, treasurer; and Susan Sandstrom, membership director.
The council plans to provide business resource, network and technology training opportunities to members. It recently hosted an event about Realtor safety.
An installation luncheon will be held on Jan. 15 at Copper River Country Club.
