Manchester Center in central Fresno is getting ready for a makeover.

Mall owner Omninet Capital in Beverly Hills will unveil its plan during a 1 p.m. groundbreaking ceremony on Sept. 19 to transform the shopping center, at Blackstone and Shields avenues into a multi-use property.

Plans to renovate the mall have circulated for years. Last May, early details circulated on the Internet with a sleek video showing a new mall entrance, a redesigned facade with signage, a two-story food court, an exterior shopping area and events plaza.

Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Benjamin Nazarian, Omninet’s managing partner, are expected to attend the ceremony. The announcement will be made in the mall parking lot.
