Montico Inc., a Fresno company that provides drone-based services, has landed a contract with AT&T, the multinational telecommunications giant.

Ron Wingo, Montico’s chief executive officer, said his company will be deploying its unmanned aerial vehicles to survey and collect data for AT&T’s telecommunications towers.

Montico’s highly specialized UAV’s are outfitted with equipment to shoot high definition photos and video, along with other sophisticated data collection tools.

Montico Inc. is one of the first commercial drone service providers in the nation providing business-to-business solutions.

“We are in a truly exciting period of technological advancement,” Wingo said. “We are able to create solutions that will dramatically enhance the efficiency and accuracy of data collection.”

Although Wingo did not disclose the value of the contract, he did say Montico will be hiring several dozen employees to fill positions for local support, engineering, management and pilots.

The company is also currently negotiating two additional contracts that will require additional local jobs.
