The IRS is reminding approximately 163,190 tax-exempt organizations across California that Monday, May 16, is the due date for filing annual returns.
Small tax-exempt organizations with average receipts of $50,000 or less may file an electronic notice called a Form 990-N, which asks for a few basic bits of information, spokesman Bill Brunson said. Larger organizations with average annual receipts above $50,000 must file a Form 990 or 990-EZ, depending on their receipts and assets. Private foundations file a Form 990-PF.
Usually, the deadline is May 15, but it falls on a Sunday this year and was pushed to the next business day.
