Fresno Irrigation District has extended its season through September.

The district board OK’d the extension at its Aug. 16 meeting. Gary Serrato, the district’s general manager, said the extra water is because FID has received more water than expected from Kings River runoff and extra allocation from Millerton Lake.

All users will receive a full five months of delivery with some parts of the district getting six months. Serrato said FID is having its best season in five years, but 2016 is still the district’s fifth consecutive below-normal year.
