Tim Tebow talking at Northside April 2-3

Tim Tebow will speak at weekend services April 2 and 3 at Northside Christian Church, 2709 E. Nees Ave., Clovis.

Tebow was very open about his Christian faith during his football career, which included two national championships and the 2007 Heisman Trophy as quarterback at the University of Florida and an NFL career with the Denver Broncos, New York Jets and New England Patriots. Today he is a broadcast personality and motivational speaker. He works as a college football analyst for the SEC Network.

Northside says he will speak during all three services: 6 p.m. Saturday, April 2; and 9:15 and 11 a.m. Sunday, April 3. No tickets are needed, but people are encouraged to arrive early. More information is available by calling 559-323-9675.

Tebow is the son of missionaries and did mission work as a teenager in the Philippines. He continued charity work while at the University of Florida, where he raised money for pediatric cancer patients and disadvantaged children.

He created the Tim Tebow Foundation in 2010 to help children with life-threatening illnesses. The foundation builds playrooms in children’s hospitals, provides surgeries in the Philippines through the Tebow CURE Hospital, cares for orphans, provides adoption grants for families adopting a child overseas with a special need, and sponsors Night to Shine, a nationwide prom for people with special needs.

In 2011, Tebow released the best-selling book “Through My Eyes,” where he talks about how his faith and family influenced his football career.
