‘ISIS vs. Islam’ roundtable discussion

Cornerstone Church (1545 Fulton St., Fresno) will host an “ISIS vs. Islam: How ISIS Contradicts the Principles of Islam” roundtable discussion at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2. The forum will include U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner, who presides over the Eastern District of California, Fresno District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp, Fresno police Chief Jerry Dyer, Pastor Jim Franklin from Cornerstone Church, Imam Seyed Ali Ghazvini from the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno, Rabbi Rick Winer from Temple Beth Israel and a representative from the FBI.

The free event will discuss how ISIS uses terror, brutality and destruction to advance a secular and political agenda that is forbidden by the Quran and contradicts the principles of Islam. Law enforcement will also discuss how ISIS uses religion and technology to recruit followers and how, through working together, people can help make their communities safer through cooperation and dialogue.

West Coast Bible Conference

The 33rd annual West Coast Bible Conference will be held from Wednesday, Nov. 4, through Friday, Nov. 6, at the Fresno Convention Center, 848 M St. The conference is hosted by Truth Tabernacle Church and will include guest speakers, a minister’s dinner and youth events. Armenian Genocide forum at Fresno Pacific

The 2015 Missiology Forum will host, “Responding to the Armenian Genocide: Reflections on Reconciliation as Mission,” from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the BC Lounge of the university’s Biblical Seminary. Clovis boutique

Copper Springs Church will host a boutique from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 14, at 1363 Fifth St., Clovis. The boutique will feature handmade and hand-sewn items, preserves and baked goods. All proceeds go to support mission work. More information is available by calling 559-498-3727.

Jazz mass

Bethel Lutheran Church, 187 N. Broadway St., Fresno, will hold a “jazz mass” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. “Through God’s word in Matthew 25, and some great jazz compositions, we will examine how we are to see Christ in others.” David Aus will direct the Bethel Jazz Ensemble and Pastor Carlson will bring the message.
