Das Bierhaus, one of the first craft beer “bottle shops” in Fresno, is closing.

The owner made an announcement on the Tower District business’s Facebook page Tuesday.

The business, which opened in mid-2013 at 619 E. Olive Ave., was part craft beer bar, part store. Customers could order a beer on tap to drink at the business, or pop one open from the large selection of bottles in coolers.

Customers could also buy bottles to take home, with many customers taking advantage of the build-your-own, mix-and-match six-packs for $9.99.

Said owner Christie Wolin on Facebook: “It has been a privilege and honor to (be) the first bottle shop in Fresno and one of the pioneers in the Fresno Craft Beer Revolution. I have immensely enjoyed getting to know all of you and will miss the fun debates of who has the best IPA or which stout RULES!”

Its last day will be Jan. 30, and customers are invited out until then for a last hurrah, she said.

Wolin did not say why the business closed and did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment. When Das Bierhaus opened, Wolin had another full-time job in radio advertising.

Fresno still has other businesses where customers can sip beer at the bar or take a bottle home, including Beer to the People, at 6460 N. Blackstone Ave. and Spokeasy, at 1472 N. Van Ness Ave.
