Krispy Kreme sets opening date, seeks doughnut makers

Krispy Kreme is tentatively planning to open its new Fresno location Dec. 6.

The highly anticipated shop also is looking for 70 employees to make the glazed doughnuts it’s known for.

Krispy Kreme is moving into a new building under construction on Blackstone Avenue near the Bullard Avenue Target.

A job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Courtyard Fresno hotel at 140 E. Shaw Ave. The company is looking for full- and part-time workers, including production specialists and shift supervisors.

This is round two for Fresno and Krispy Kreme. The doughnut shop opened a location in 2001 in what is now Chick-fil-A on north Blackstone Avenue. Despite a huge response, the Fresno shop closed in 2007 after the company was widely seen as overexpanding, followed by downsizing.

Now Krispy Kreme is back with a smaller location.
