Precious, Tiny Lamb Looks Just Like a 'Freshly-Baked Pasture Marshmallow'
While most of us are well acquainted with puppies and kittens, the world is overflowing with adorable baby animals, much to our luck.
TikTok user Krista (@kristaupcountry) is a farmer in gorgeous and scenic Hawai'i. Krista shares her life and her farmland online to her 159k followers. Earlier this week, a new addition joined her flock and was perfectly content smiling up for the camera like an adorable, "freshly baked little pasture marshmallow."

The lamb, which Krista appropriately labeled a "smiley little cotton ball," was a hit on social media with users calling her a "total vibe."
Caring for Baby Lambs
Taking care of a baby lamb is actually more labor intensive and technical than most people might think. Newborn lambs must consume up to two ounces of colostrum per pound of body weight within the first 12 hours of being born for vital antibodies that are critical to their immune system. If it's not coming from mom, a colostrum replacer from a human via a bottle is necessary. On top of this, it's highly important that they stay warm and their body temperature does not drop below 99° Fahrenheit, especially before eating.
If a mother isn't able to care for their lamb for whatever reason, a bottle feeding schedule and regimen is necessary for at least the first two weeks of the lamb's life. Humans should choose a quality milk replacer, feed the lamb every four hours, and keep an eye on them to ensure they aren't getting bloated which can be both uncomfortable and dangerous. Around two weeks of age, solid foods like pellets and hay can begin to be introduced into the baby lamb's diet. Lambs can be weaned off of milk once they're strong enough, typically around 30 pounds or within 30 days.
The vast majority of us won't get to take care of a baby lamb (unfortunately) but luckily we can enjoy them vicariously through TikTok, thanks to users like Krista and her adorable little fluff balls out on the island.
