John Beasley has an impressive résumé. The jazz pianist was in the personal bands of Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard and has worked with Steely Dan and Chaka Khan. Most recently, he was the music director of an after party at last weekend’s Grammy Awards ceremonies.
He will play Saturday, Feb. 14, at Arte Américas, as part of the museum’s jazz series. Curated by Richard Gidden’s local jazz trio, the series of concerts puts world-class metropolitan jazz to a casual gallery setting.
Gidden is a Roosevelt High School graduate who holds an MFA from the California Institute of Arts and performs with the Lost and Found Orchestra, a symphonic based physical theater piece created by the founders of the percussive theater show STOMP.
