London Has Fallen (R)

Directed by: Babak Najafi

Starring: Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett

The pitch: The president of the United States must attend funeral services for the British prime minister. The event is part of an elaborate plot to kill world leaders. Only a crack Secret Service agent stands in the way.

The formula: Load up much of “Olympus Has Fallen.” Arm yourself with parts of “Air Force One.” Equip yourself with plenty of “Spectre.”

Go see it: If you like action movies. It combines elements from the best ones.

Don’t go see it: If the only thing you care about is real politics.

Tough term: This is the second time a group of terrorists has taken the president hostage. His Secret Service ace always frees him, but you think he might be able to stop such events before they happen.
