Our Brand Is Crisis (R)

Directed by: David Gordon Green

Starring: Sandra Bullock, Billy Bob Thornton, Anthony Mackie, Ann Dowd, Zoe Kazan

The pitch: A political strategist is called in to help a candidate who is running far behind in the polls.

The formula: Nominate moments from then documentary “Our Brand Is Crisis.” Campaign for bits of “The Blind Side.” Elect a portion of “Wag the Dog.”

Go see it: If you spend most of your day talking about politics.

Don’t go see it: If you prefer to think of Sandra Bullock in better movies.

No chemistry: You would think a film with Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton would have more of an emotional charge.
