It has been tough counting down the days to the opening of “Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens.” One thing that has made it easier is the Disney XD series, “Star Wars Rebels.”
Because the action takes place between “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” and “”Star Wars: A New Hope,” the animated series has opened up a lot of possibilities. The second season will feature Ahsoka Tano from “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and Darth Vader being added to the story lines.
The first season focused on Ezra Bridger, a young man with Jedi powers who couldn’t find proper training. He teams with the ragtag crew of the starship Ghost to take on the Empire and learn the ways of the Force.
Season one was good but the Force is much stronger with the second year. The combination of classic characters from the films and past TV shows with the new characters makes the animated offering seem more in tune with the “Star Wars” universe.

The series from Dave Filoni continues to be extremely well written and except for an annoying problem in creating hair, the animation is first rate.
