Both Variety and TheWrap are reporting that Benicio Del Toro

will be the villain in “Star Wars: Episode V111.” Filming will start in 2016 for a May 26, 2017 opening for the next movie in the “Star Wars’ franchise.

The reports are that the deal is still far away from being finalized. And, other actors were being considered for the role.

Del Toro is no stranger to big-budget space movies. He appeared as The Collector in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

It has been reported that Rian Johnson will direct the next “Star Wars” movie and that Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac - stars of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” - are expected to return.
