The original “Star Wars” movie was such a big hit, fans wanted more tales of Luke Skywalker and the gang faster than movies could be made.

One solution was through comic books. Marvel Comics started publishing a line of “Star Wars” comics in 1977 and continued it for about a decade.

Dark Horse Comics owned the license to publish “Star Wars” comics from 1991 to 2014. This year, Marvel has resumed its “Star Wars” line of books.

You have to be very careful when it comes to the first issue from Marvel’s line that started in 1977. The copy with a price tag of 30 cents is worth about $500 in mint condition.

You want to own one with a 35 cent price. There were only 1,500 printed as a way of testing out the higher price. The rarity means it can be worth as much as $4,500 in mint condition. Even one with some flaws can command $1,000.

Aren’t you sorry you threw out your child’s collection of comics?
