John Boyega - who was in “24: Live Another Day” - is excited about playing Finn in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the next feature film in the franchise that will be released in December. He was so thrilled when he was cast, he didn’t tell anyone at first out of fear something might happen.
He would say he was working on the season of “24” that shot in London to explain why he was not at home.
There was no turning back when the first trailer was released as Boyega - dressed in a Stormtrooper outfit - is the first face shown. The question after the trailer was released was whether Boyega is really a Stormtrooper or just wearing the suit as a disguise.
Han and Luke used such a ploy.

When asked the question during an appearance at the “Star Wars Celebration” held in Anaheim, Boyega shook his head yes to say he was really a Stormtrooper. “The Force Awakens” director, J.J. Abrams, seated next to Boyega shoots him a dirty look as if to say such secrets can’t be given away. Then Abrams smiles.
Boyega’s own excitement about “Star Wars” is why he understands it when fans get excited to see him.
The British actor is such a fan of the franchise himself he couldn’t pass up a chance to get a memento from Harrison Ford, who’s reprising his role as Han Solo in the new film. He had a large action figure of the actor and asked Ford to autograph it.
“I went over to Harrison and I asked him if we sign my doll. He was like ‘This is weird but I’ll sign it for you.’ I got it signed on set,” Boyega proudly says.
