The roar of applause and screaming that greeted the three cast members from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” at the “Star Wars Celebration “ took Daisy Ridley by surprise. She thought it was exciting once she was cast and started filming the movie but that doesn’t compare to the thrill she’s getting from the greeting from the enthusiastic fans.
“I’ve never been anywhere like this,” Ridley says as she stares at the thousands of fans who have waited — many overnight — to see the actors.
One reason the British actress was so overwhelmed is that she was relatively unknown until J.J. Abrams changed her life. Being cast in the upcoming “Star Wars” movie has pulled her into a world of fandom that she’s never been apart of before the movie. Her previous work included small roles in British TV shows such as “Silent Witness” and “Mr. Selfridge.”
Her days of obscurity are gone as she takes on the role of Rey.
